The caged bird feeder can do this because the distance between the fencing and bird seed tube is designed wide enough that they can't get to it! The Squirrel Proof cage 1.5 inch fencing itself is just right to let only songbirds pass on through. This feeder also has a nice roof that can protect the tube's bird seed from the weather.

The green powder coated metal grid make it easy for birds to feed and move around, while protecting them from predators. Its wire base lets birdseed spills fall through to the ground. With no seed buildup in the base the squirrels will not hang around on the feeder. It's top cap is lifted to refill feeder. Birds love to perch on the wire cage giving you an excellent view.
